Description

Distribution coefficient (Kd) is useful parameter for migration study of contaminant around nuclear waste management sites and is defined as the ratio of the quantity of the adsorbate adsorbed per unit mass of solid to the amount of the adsorbate remaining in a unit volume of solution at equilibrium. Since the distribution coefficient depends on the soil and groundwater chemistry, generation of site specific Kd assumes importance. In the literature studies reported wide variation of Kd values of Caesium. For realistic planning of mechanical barriers to reduce leach rate, evaluation of site specific experimental Kd value is required
