Disposal of uranium mill tailings
Description
So much attention has been given to the criteria for disposal of uranium mill tailings during the past ten or more years that a review of most of that material would be necessarily superficial and most likely boring. Instead, this paper calls attention to aspects of this problem that have been avoided or ignored. In most respects, uranium mill tailings are very much like their non-radioactive counterparts, i.e., they present disposal concerns that are very similar to those for many of the waste products of the mineral extraction and energy production industries
