Method for manufacturing uranium dioxide capable of being sintered
Description
An improvement of the method for conversion of uranium hexafluoride to uranium dioxide capable of being sintered by means of a multi-step fluidized bed process is proposed. In the first step, uranyl fluoride in solid state is formed from uranium hexafluoride and steam which is then converted to triuranium octoxide at temperatures above 7300C, the latter being subsequently fluidized at temperatures below 5000C and reduced to UO2 with excess hydrogen in the presence of steam. Variants of the process steps are described. The fluoride content of the final product lies below 0.011 w%. (UWI)

Es wird eine Verbesserung des Verfahrens zur Umwandlung von Uranhexafluorid in sinterfaehiges Urandioxid im mehrstufigen Fliessbettverfahren vorgeschlagen. In der ersten Stufe wird aus Uranhexafluorid und Dampf Uranylfluorid in fester Form gebildet, dies dann bei Temperaturen oberhalb von 7300C in Triuranoctoxid umgewandelt, letzteres anschliessend bei Temperaturen unterhalb 5000C verwirbelt und mit Ueberschuss an Wasserstoff in Gegenwart von Dampf zu UO2 reduziert. Varianten der Verfahrenschnitte werden beschrieben. Der Fluoridgehalt des Endprodukts liegt unter 0,011 Gew.%. (UWI)Files
