Large-channel counterflow turbulence in superfluid 4He

Description
With the use of a highly sensitive chemical potential difference detector, critical heat current densities for superfluid turbulence in the temperature range of 1.15 to 2.14 K have been measured in a large rectangular glass channel and are compared with the Vinen model. The temperature dependence of chi1/chi2 is found to be in fair agreement with the Schwarz theory in the range of 1.15 to 1.6 K, but significant deviations from theory in the high-temperature range (>1.6 K) are observed
