Design and implementation of Maretron communication system with MQTT based for the radiation and meteorological monitoring analysis system (RAMONA)

Description

As part of the RAMONA system, a communication system has been designed and implemented to enable the Ultrasonic Device of Maretron WS0100 to communicate with the server and/or other client. The Maretron is connected to other devices through a device called NMEA2000, a communication standard set by the National Maritime Electrical Association (NMEA), as a way of communication with the displays available in the ships. This device has several sensors embedded such as humidity, wind direction and speed, temperature and speed. The communication between Maretron is utilizing a MQTT (Message Queueing Telemetry Transport) system, a publish/subscribe protocol, in which a client publish its data to a data bus for a certain topic, while the server or other client who subscribe to that topic, will then take and process the data. The data format sent by the Maretron is in JSON (JavaScrip Object Notation) format, which will be parsed by the subscriber and later will be saved on a database or displayed in a website as per requirement.
