Electroexcitation of giant multipole resonances in 40Ca

Description
A study of inelastic electron scattering from 40Ca in the momentum transfer range q = 0.43--1.40 fm/sup -1/ has revealed strong excitations with quadrupole and octupole character which spread over the range of excitation energy E/subx/ = 10--25 MeV. For comparison, a simple shell model calculation is made based on the quasielastic model
