Crystal structure of (Ti,Mo)C phase
Description
Roentgenography and neutron-diffraction analysis are used to show that the (Ti, Mo)C system is one-phase, when molybdenum mass concentration is below 15% and it is not an ideal solid solution. Structural peculiarities of the (Ti, Mo)C system or ring zone in the solid solution (that is isostructuriness and small differences in periods of TiC and (Ti, Mo)C grids) provide for the smoothness of transition from titanium carbide (the core) to the nickel binder, which determines the hard alloy strength
