Filtration: TMI 2 defuelling and beyond
Description
To meet special requirements encountered during the clean-up at Three Mile Island, a new filter medium was developed, called the Pall Porous Metal Membrane. Consisting of stainless steel powder within the pore structure of a stainless steel woven wire mesh, this design is now finding a widening range of applications at nuclear power plants. Applications include: control of leakage of ion-exchange resins; reactor water clean-up; condensate polishing; spent fuel and radwaste applications; and controlled venting of containment buildings.
