Comments on some of the effects in the quantitative analysis of stellar spectra

Description

The consequences of inaccuracies in determining temperature and microturbulence are discussed for the resultant values of element abundance. The effect of inaccurate determination of temperature is eliminated if lines of a more abundant ion only are used in the analysis. An inaccurate estimation of the magnitude of microturbulence is reflected by a greater error for heavier elements. The inaccuracies in determining both values may result in apparent overabundances or underabundances of the elements. (author)
