Radiosurgery in intracranial arteriovenous malformations. I
- 1. Kungliga Karolinska Mediko-Kirurgiska Inst., Stockholm (Sweden)
Description
The technique for obliteration of cerebral arteriovenous malformations using stereotactically directed gamma rays is described. Spherical fields up to a size of about 25 mm in diameter can be covered by a sufficient dose and any possible eccentric location of the target volume within the skull is easily handled with computerized dose-planning. Gamma doses varying between 5 and 12.5 krad have been used with corresponding irradiation times of 20 to 40 min, respectively. (Auth.)
