Description

Double differential neutron production cross sections were measured at the LAMPF-WNR facility at Los Alamos between 100 MeV and 800 MeV incident proton energy using time-of-flight techniques. Virtually systematic results were gained by a large number of different angles, energy points and target materials from low to high atomic masses. The measured spectra were compared to detailed Monte Carlo simulations using the KFA version of the intra-nuclear cascade code HETC. The results are also compared with earlier measurements and those of other authors. An overview of the status of neutron production data in the medium energy range is presented. (orig.)
