Crystal and molecular structures of 3-carboxypropyltriphenylphosphonium diiodobromide

Description
Complexing in the system 3-carboxypropyltriphenylphosphonium bromide-molecular iodine in chloroform was studied by the method of spectrophotometry. The limiting amounts of iodine molecule coordinated and stability constant of the complex formed were ascertained. For complex featuring the composition [(C6H5)3P(CH2)3COOH]BrI2 the structural parameters in crystal and gaseous phases were compared on the basis of X-ray diffraction analysis data and results of ab initio calculating. It is shown that formation of dimer associates is a characteristic feature of the crystal salt
Abstract (Russian)
Методом спектрофотометрии изучено комплексообразование в системе бромид 3-карбоксипропилтрифенилфосфония-молекулярный иод в хлороформе. Определены предельные количества координируемых молекул иода и константа устойчивости образующегося комплекса. Для комплекса состава [(C6H5)3P(CH2)3COOH]BrI2 проведено сравнение структурных параметров в кристаллической и газовой фазах на основании данных рентгеноструктурного анализа и результатов неэмпирических расчетов.
