Theory of formation and evaporation of a microlayer

  • 1. Tomskij Politekhnicheskij Inst. (USSR)

Description

A theoretical analysis of microlayer existence beneath a growing vapor bubble has been carried out. In viewing liquid flow before the bubble growing on a heating surface, two zones can be identified: a thin near-wall viscous flow region (interfacial layer) and an outer potential flow region. No separation of the interfacial layer was found to occur. The expressions presented enable to calculate heating surface temperature fluctuation, microlayer vaporization behaviour, variation of dry zone radius, growth rate and other process characteristics, with the account being taken of thermophysical properties of the heat transfer wall material
