Generation of high Tc superconducting oxy-carbonates: from the ceramics to the thin films

  • 1. Caen Univ., 14 (France)

Description

The copper oxy-carbonates form a very promising family of high Tc superconductors with closely related structures. The synthesis of these materials is based on the infinite layer (IL) structure considered as a host lattice for the formation of the oxy-carbonate Sr2CuO2CO3 (S2CC) and on the combination of the S2CC structure and with the Tl0.5Pb0.5Sr2CuO6 (''1201'') and Bi2Sr2CuO6 (''2201'') type structures. The application of intergrowth and shearing mechanisms to these compounds is described, showing the possibility to generate numerous new superconductors. (authors). 27 refs., 12 figs
