Explosive scenario of the origin of population II stars

  • 1. Rostov State Univ. (Ukrainian SSR)

Description

A scenario of the evolution of a protogalaxy in the stage of formation of the first stars is presented. Its main features are as follows: (a) in the central parts of the protogalaxy massive (M ∼ 10-29 Mcircle-dot) population III stars are born; (b) after a few tens of millions of years they explode, eject heavy elements, and generate a large-scale shock wave; (c) the formation behind the wave front of a cold shell is accompanied after ∼107 yr by fragmentation and the birth of a new generation of population II stars with large radial velocities (∼300 km/sec). The luminosity of the protogalaxies at these stages is estimated
