Radon concentration and its correlation with varying climate conditions

Description

Radon concentration was measured over a period of one year in the vicinities of Bathinda district of Punjab for different seasons. An attempt has been made to estimate the exact concentration of radon and thoron in indoor environs using newly developed pin hole cup dosimeters. A remarkable correlation has been found with rainfall confirming that radon concentration in different locations was predominant under different conditions. Radon concentration was measured three consecutive seasons viz., Rainy (July - October), winter (November - February) and summer (March - June). The three seasons were selected for the study as there is great impact of air pressure differentials. The highest radon concentration was recorded during the rainy season and lowest in summer season.
