Highlights: • Several texture features demonstrated differences between normal BMD and osteoporosis on head CT. • 'Median' may be the strongest feature for discriminating between normal BMD and osteoporosis. • The clivus may be the best region to differentiate osteoporosis from normal BMD patients on head CT. • Texture analysis on head CT may be help in identifying patients with osteoporosis. - Abstract: ObjectivesTo investigate the use of texture analysis for the detection of osteoporosis on noncontrast head CTs, and to explore optimal sampling regions within the craniofacial bones.
