Current status and future plan of HTGR development. Development of HTGR for contributing to carbon neutrality
- 1. Japan Atomic Energy Agency, HTGR Project Management Office, Tokyo (Japan)
Description
High-temperature gas-cooled reactors (HTGRs) are reactors capable of supplying heat at temperatures above 900℃, enabling diverse thermal applications, including hydrogen production, with high safety. They are expected to contribute to achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. Japan has initiated the development of a demonstration reactor, aiming for operation in the late 2030s. This paper introduces these efforts, including collaborations with countries such as the United Kingdom. (J.P.N.)
Abstract (Japanese)
Additional details
