Electromagnetic-like waves in polymers

Creators

  • 1. Warsaw University, Warsaw (Poland)

Description

It is shown that purely transversal waves can propagate in a dense fluid of polymers due to configurational constraints. The relation between the wave velocity and density, temperature, mass and length of segments of a polymer is established. The striking analogy to electromagnetic field is discussed. (author)
