Description
3H and 14C in the environment of Ignalina NPP are studied in precipitation, terrestrial plants, tree radial growth rings, surficial water, aquatic plants in unconfined and, at a smaller scale, in confined groundwater. Ignalina NPP influence on tritium concentration in precipitation is not observed, according to the data of investigation of instantaneous samples. For integral evaluation of tritium and radiocarbon variations in atmosphere under the influence of Ignalina NPP, the concentration of the isotopes has been studied in radial growth rings of Pinus silvestris L. and in annual terrestrial plants. The maximal tritium concentration falls to 1964 and makes 1665 TU to background model of wood, the maximal radiocarbon concentration falls to 1964 and makes 199.2 pmC. The tritium concentration in tree rings in 1995 makes 25 TU and coincides with tritium concentration in warm-season precipitation within the limits of error. The tritium concentration in growing near Ignalina NPP pines rings in 1989 and 1991 amounted to 300 TU and distinctly exceeded the one caused by global factors (author)
