Description

A systems programme for quick assessment of the radiation exposure due to inhalation, LASAIR (La-grangian simulation of the dispersion and inhalation of radionuclides) has been achieved as ordered by the Federal Ministry for Environment, Nature Preservation and Reactor Safety within a research pro-gramme against nuclearspecific threads. Based on simple meteorological measurements a quick simu-lation of the atmospheric dispersion of radioactive substances shall be accomplished with the aid of an adequate dispersion model (Lagrangian Particle Model). The aim is the computation of the radiation exposure due to inhalation as well as the presentation with graphical support on the basis of topo-graphical maps. A first development version has been completed; first computations and operations have shown the ability of function of the systems programme. LASAIR can offer radiation protection consultants a first quick survey on the scene about the radiation exposure due to inhalation and from this a basis for further tactical decisions. (orig.)
