This progress report discusses the following topics: high coercivity Sm-Fe-Ti-V and Sm-Fe-Zr crystalline phases; ThMn12 type pseudobinary SmFe12-xTx (x = 0.5 to 1.5) and even binary SmFe12 compound samples; and improved crystal texture control for Re-Tm magnetic films sputtered in Ar-Xe gas mixtures
