Description

Results of experimental and theoretical studies are presented analysing the usability of E-PERM electret ionisation chambers under special conditions. High humidity does not influence the readings of E-PERM detectors if additional stress to the electrets, such as rapid temperature changes, is avoided and the readout takes place under normal conditions. The application of the detectors at higher altitudes requires the use of correction factors. The calculated altitude correction factors depend on the volume of the chambers. The behaviour of the electret ionisation chambers during short-term exposures is discussed and appropriate correction factors are given. (author)
