Status of JMTR decommissioning plan formulation

Description
Japan Materials Testing Reactor (JMTR) achieved its first criticality in 1968, and since then, it has been used for the irradiation tests of the fuels and materials of mainly light water reactors for power generation. It has also widely been used in the irradiation tests of the fuels and materials of various reactors, such as new type converter, fast reactor, high-temperature gas reactor, and fusion reactor. JMTR was decided to become abolished facility in 'Mid- and long-term plan of the facilities' announced in April 2017. Decommissioning plan authorization application to the Nuclear Regulation Authority will be applied by the end of FY2018, and organization changes in preparation for decommissioning and various evaluations necessary for preparing application forms were started. This presentation outlines the studies conducted in FY2017 after the announcement of 'Mid- and long-term plan of the facilities'. (A.O.)

材料試験炉(JMTR: Japan Materials Testing Reactor、以後、「JMTR」と言う)は、昭和43年に初臨界を達成して以来、発電用軽水炉燃料や材料の照射試験を中心に、新型転換炉, 高速炉, 高温ガス炉, 核融合炉などの燃料・材料の照射試験に広く利用されてきた。平成29年4月に公表された「施設中長期計画」において、JMTRは廃止施設として決定し、平成30年度末までに廃止措置計画認可申請書を原子力規制庁へ申請することとなり、廃止措置の準備のための組織変更、申請書作成に必要な各種評価を開始した。本発表は、施設中長期計画が公表されて以降、平成29年度に実施した検討状況の概略について報告する。(著者)Additional details
