Description

The quantification of possible internal exposure is an important requirement in radiation protection. The main aim of bioassay monitoring therefore, is not only to quantify the intake of radionuclide(s) but also to identify them as well. Alpha-spectrometry is a very sensitive, nuclide specific method for the determination and identification of alpha emitting isotopes in low level activity found in bioassay and environmental samples. Source preparation for alpha spectrometry is usually done using electro-deposition technique. However, in the present study microprecipitation technique using rare earth fluorides was standardized for source preparation
