Why Belarus needs to develop nuclear power

The national power program states that by 2005 it will be necessary to commission the country's first nuclear power plant of 500 to 1000 MWe capacity. Preparatory work being done in belarus include: - site selection, - development of strategies for storage and final disposal of radioactive wastes, - draft laws on use of nuclear power and radiation safety, - forming of the public opinion on nuclear power. 2 figs
