Interaction of tantalum and niobium pentachlorides with ethyl alcohol
- 1. Gosudarstvennyj Nauchno-Issledovatel'skij i Proektnyj Inst. Redkometallicheskoj Promyshlennosti, Moscow (USSR)
Description
It has been established, that in the process of interaction between tantalum and niobium and ethanol the following compounds (oxohydroxochlorenthylates) of brutto-formula Me2O3 (C2H5O)2(OH)Cl are formed. Two alternative formulas with the accuracy up to the position of substituents in metal atoms can correspond to the composition. The structure assumed has been refined using the methods of IR- and UV-spectroscopy. A high solubility of tantalum and niobium oxohydroxochlorethylates in ethanol is pointed out. Temperature dependence of density and viscosity of alcohol solutions of pentachlorides and oxohydroxochlorethylates is studied
