Isotopic analysis of 7LiOH samples by SSMS

Description
A methodology for the isotopic determination of lithium in enriched 7LiOH.2H2O samples by Spark Source Mass Spectrometry (SSMS) is described. The photoplate emulsion calibration curve was not used. The accuracy of the results was checked against the analysis of LiOH.2H2O with natural isotopic composition, and it was found that the result obtained was accurate within 5% with respect to the published natural value. The accuracy was improved using a 7Li enriched reference sample. The technique was applied to the analysis of batches of 7LiOH.2H2O to be used in a nuclear power reactor to control the pH in the water cooling system. (author) 6 refs.; 1 tab
