Medical uses of isotopes in imaging and therapy: the future is scintillating
Description
Over the past two decades, clinical use of medical isotopes in Canada has faced challenges related shortages and regulatory practices. Despite this, there have been important advances in the technology and as well number of medical isotopes being used for diagnosis and therapy in nuclear medicine. This has significantly increased the impact of the specialty in patient care. Expanding knowledge and understanding as well as availability promise further increase in the importance of nuclear medicine in delivering personalized medicine in the 21st century. (author)
