Description

Objective: To explore the relationship between serum TGF-β1 and SOD, MDA levels inpatients with alcoholic cirrhosis. Methods: Serum TGF-β1 with RIA serum SOD, MDA with chemistry levels were measured in 36 patients with alcoholic cirrhosis and compared with 35 normal healthy controls. Results: Serum TGF-β1, MDA levels were significantly higher than those in controls (P < 0.01). But serum SOD level was markedly lower (P < 0.01), serum TGF-β1 level was positively correlate with MDA level (r = 0.6138, P < 0.01), serum TGF-β1 level was negatively correlated with SOD level (r = -0.3784, P < 0.01). Conclusion: Changes of serum TGF-β1, SOD, MDA levels might be of certain clinical value for monitoring therapeutic effects and prognosis in patients with alcoholic cirrhosis. (authors)
