Magnetic bubble propagation by pulsed rf currents
Description
Propagation of bubbles along the edges of deposited conductors was observed. In this mode of translation, bubbles move smoothly along the perimeter of the conductor. Bubbles of 5 μm diameter have been propagated in epitaxial films of (Y,Sm)3(FeGa)5O12 with rf frequencies between 10 and 75 MHz. For pulses of 4 μs duration, the minimum peak-to-peak rf current, 10, required for propagation with a gold conductor 76.0 μm wide by 1 μm thick was found to be approximately 2 A. Propagation has been observed in both ion-implanted and non-implanted samples. Collapse field measurements indicate that bubbles capable of being propagated by this technique are not hard bubbles.
