Hyperfine interaction studies in materials research

  • 1. Institute of Nuclear Physics, Cracow (Poland)

Description

The use of nuclear methods in condensed matter research makes possible to study local properties of investigated samples. The information obtained concerns the microstructure and microdynamics of atoms and their closest surrounding. Two methods of hyperfine interaction studies: the Moessbauer Spectroscopy and Perturbed Angular Correlations of γ-Rays are presented. A brief description of the methods is followed by a comparison of their application range, sensitivities and limitations. Listed examples illustrate the broad range of applications of two methods.
