Reaction mechanisms of 27Al(p,n)28Si and related reactions
Description
One of the central problems in nuclear physics has been to establish the many ways in which excited nuclei can gain and lose their energy. The excited Silicon-28 system was experimentally and theoretically investigated and it was shown that not only is the direct process important, but that the system can also decay in a statistical manner. The relative importance of these two processes and of other processes intermediate between them was established for this particular nucleus. (author)
