Features peculiar to the acoustic properties of intermetallic SmFe2 in the spin reorientation region

Description
In polycrystalline specimens of intermetallic SmFe2 the temperature dependences are measured of the sound velocity and of the sound absorption coefficients. By contrast with earlier investigations, anomalies are detected in the acoustic properties at two spin-reorientation temperatures rather than at one. The temperature dependences are characterized by a hysteresis. Possible causes of the observed anomalies in the acoustic properties of SmFe2 are discussed. (orig.)
