Contribution to the automatic measurement of bubble chamber pictures and the multidimensional analysis of K-p interactions at 14.3 GeV/c

Description

The first part of this study is a detailed study of the different sources of distorsions of the flying spot digitizers CRT Paris which measure automatically the bubble chamber pictures, followed by the methods of calibration which correct the distorsions. An original study of the channel K-p→K-pπ+π-, lying on the direct search of the existing structures in the probability density in the phase space is developed in the second part. A first approach consists in a 'projection pursuit' algorithm and a second one is a more direct analysis of the density function (cluster finding). The results of a partial wave analysis of the K- diffraction are presented

Abstract (French)

La premiere partie de ce travail est une etude detaillee des differentes sources de distorsions des appareils CRT Paris destines a la mesure automatique de cliches de chambres a bulles, suivie des methodes d'etalonnage necessaires pour les corriger. La deuxieme partie est une etude originale de la reaction K-p→K-pπ+π-, reposant sur la recherche directe des structures existantes de la densite de probabilite dans l'espace de phase de la reaction. Une premiere methode consiste a chercher les 'meilleures' projections planes de l'espace de phase alors que la deuxieme methode est une analyse plus directe de la fonction densite (classification automatique). Enfin le dernier chapitre presente les resultats d'une analyse en ondes partielles de la diffraction du K- dans cette reaction
