An analysis of fire risk management of nuclear power plants

  • 1. Suzhou Nuclear Power Research Institute, CGN, Shenzhen (China)

Description

Currently, fire protection management in nuclear power plants (NPPs) is mostly limited to the deterministic analysis and other design analysis and evaluation, and fire protection management is often accompanied by heavy workloads. The plant managers always lack sufficient judgment basis in decision-making, which makes fire protection management difficult and inefficient. This paper briefly analyzes the current situation of fire protection management of NPPs, and provides a proposal of fire risk management based on probability safety assessment (PSA). Fire load refinement and intelligent fire load management are taken as examples to demonstrate how to promote and optimize fire protection management, achieve risk-informed management, and accomplish a unified goal of plant safety and economic benefits.
