Metallographic follow-up examination of the MOPS A3 irradiation experiment
Description
Automatic translation: The 400 particles examined were in very good condition. Only one had cracks or flaking of the outer PyC coating (Fig. 5). All other particles were in perfect external condition (Fig. 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8). 1 % of the particles had a circumferential crack in the porous inner coating (Fig. 7, 8). The resulting gaps were largely filled by the resulting gaps were largely filled. The cores themselves often show fission gas precipitation (Figs. 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8). The outer coating is visibly optically anisotrophic (Fig. 2). Abstract (German)
Die 400 untersuchten Partikel waren in sehr guter Verfassung. Nur eins hatte Einrisse bzw. Abplatzungen der äußeren PyCBeschichtung (Abb. 5). Alle anderen Partikel waren in äußerlich einwandfreier Verfassung (Abb. 1, 2, 5, 6, 7, 8). 1 % der Partikel hatten einen umlaufenden Riß in der porösen Innenbeschichtung (Abb. 7, 8). Durch Swellen des Kerns wurden die entstehenden Spalte größtenteils ausgefüllt. Die Kerne selber zeigen häufig Spaltgasausscheidungen (Abb. 1, 3, 5, 6, 7, 8). Die äußere Beschichtung ist sichtbar optisch anisotroph (Abb. 2). Der Aufbau der beschichteten Teilchen ist in Abb. 4 zu sehen (Kern, C-Pelz, poröse Innenbeschichtung, poröse SiC-BeSchichtung, hochdichte äußere Beschichtung).Files
