Control of flux jump in V3Ga tapes by high purity aluminium sheet
Description
The magnetic diffusivity Dsub(m)=109rhosub(eff)/4π, was measured on stacks of superconducting V3Ga tapes in combination with various stabilizing materials by observing a magnetization process with the eddy current method. The stacks were exposed to a magnetic field perpendicular to the wide surface of the tape. Without a stabilizing material rhosub(eff) is 6.1 x 10-6Ω-cm (Dsub(m) = 480 cm2/s) and with high purity aluminium stabilizing rhosub(eff) reaches 9.0x10-9Ω-cm(Dsub(m) = 0.72 cm2/s). When He cooling was applied to 20 % of the perimeter of the stack, no flux jump occurred up to 50 kG. (author)
