First analysis of the National Registry for Radiation Workers

The National Registry for Radiation Workers (NRRW) was set up in 1976 to provide the largest possible epidemiological study of mortality (and cancer incidence) in UK radiation workers. This first analysis is limited to a study of mortality. Information on deaths (and emigrations) was primarily obtained from the National Health Service Central Registers. The survey covers over 95,000 radiation workers who were employees of five major employers: British Nuclear Fuels, the Atomic Weapons Establishment, those monitored by the Defence Radiological Protection Service, Nuclear Electric and the UK AEA. This cohort has received a collective lifetime dose from external radiation of 3200 man Sv. (UK)
