Decompressive radiation therapy in gastric cancer metastase in hilus of liver

Description

A retrospective analysis of patients with cancer of stomach attended from January 1970 to January 1981 is done. Twelve patients were submitted to radiation therapy and the average survival was of 258 days. The external megavoltage radiation as an useful modality of treatment for extra hepatic biliary obstruction secondary to gastric cancer is reported and good results increasing the time and life quality of patients are presented. Abstract (Portuguese)

Apresenta-se uma analise retrospectiva de pacientes portadores de cancer do estomago atendidos no periodo de 1 de Janeiro de 1970 a 1 de Janeiro de 1981. Relata-se que doze pacientes submeteram-se a tratamento radioterapico, com sobrevida media de 258 dias. Conclui-se que a radioterapia externa de megavoltagem e elemento terapeutico de valor no tratamento da obstrucao biliar extra-hepatica secundaria a cancer gastrico, com melhora do tempo e da qualidade de vida do paciente.
