Description

To evaluate the diagnostic vague of 99mTc-MIBI imaging in breast cancer 9 patients with breast tumor were imaged with 99mTc-MIBI in comparison with 99mTc-anti-mucin monoclonal antibody (McAb) MB835/6 at interval of 2∼3 days. The results showed that 5 of 5 known primary breast lesions and 2 axillary nodal metastases in 5 patients with primary breast cancer were detected by both imaging procedures. One unilateral axilla lymph node reactive proliferation was false positively observed by 99mTc-MIBI imaging in one patient with infiltrating ductal carcinoma of the right-sided breast. The 99mTc-MIBI scans were truly negative in 3 of 4 remaining patients with breast benign tumor, but false positive in 1 patient with right-sided breast adenosis accompanied by ductal epitheliosis. RII were truly negative in these 4 patients. It is suggested 99mTc-MIBI imaging, is a specifically diagnostic technique like anti-mucin McAb RII in detecting primary breast cancer and lymph node metastases which has practical value in clinic
