Study of the plasma mantle of the Earth magnetosphere

Description

Experiment on investigation of plasma mantle structure at the north component of interplanetary magnetic field (IMF) is considered. Measurements were conducted using Prognoz-7 satellite. It is shown that standing plasma clouds, where plasma parameters correspond to plasma layer more, than to transition region are often observed at the north component of IMF in high-latitude magnetosphere projected to the polar cap. It manifests that force lines which permeate these clouds are locked
