Training of nuclear power plant reactor operators and shift supervisors in West Germany

The Atomic Energy Act of West Germany prescribes that a licence for the operation of a nuclear power plant can only be granted if the persons responsible for the erection, management and supervision of the operation of the plant have the required expertise. In addition, the requirement of highest possible availability of power plant also assumes that the operating personnel are highly qualified. This qualification can only be attained and maintained by a long-standing objective oriented and systematic education training. It is demonstrated how the teaching of the theory as a part of the education and retraining is performed in West Germany. (author)
