Greater omentum in repair of complications following surgery and radiotherapy for certain cancers

Description
Transposition of greater omentum (G.O.) from the abdominal cavity to repair sequelae of combined surgical and radiotherapeutic treatment of cancer in four cases has been presented. One axillary radionecrosis and three oropharyngostomas developed after extensive reconstructive surgery following radiotherapy. The theoretical possibilities for using this method are developed by reviewing the attributes of the G.O. (anti-infectious, immune, and trophic). The technical aspects of lengthening it in order to reach the neck, armpit or scalp are then analyzed. Favorable results agree with the use of G.O. in other domains
