Description

The results of a cross channel isospin amplitude analysis of the reaction antiproton nucleon-antinucleon nucleonπ at 5.7 GeV/c, concerning the isovector exchange amplitude M1/21, with the nucleonπ system in an I=1/2 state, have been used to analyse the nature of this amplitude. It is found that, in order to describe the mass dependence of the M1/21 amplitude and also its interference with the isoscalar amplitude Msub(1/2)sup(deg), it is necessary to include contributions from both rho and π exchanges in the crossed channel. Such a two-component model can also describe the M1/21 amplitude obtained from single-pion production in both πnucleon and pnucleon collisions as shown earlier. It thus seems to exist a common interpretation of this amplitude for all these different reactions
