Description
An advanced computer algorithm to calculate personal radiation dose in terms of deep and shallow dose equivalent by a TLD (Teledyne P B-3 badge type and TLD reader system) was jointly developed by the KAERI and the R C/Kepco to improve current personnel radiation dosimetry program in the KAERI and the KEPCO. The performance of this algorithm was tested and evaluated by a dosimetry performance confirmation program (DPCA) of an US institution having a traceability to the National Institute of Sciences and Technology (Nist) within ± 5 %. Total 240 TLDs were sent for blind irradiation under eight types of radiation fields required in the ANSI N/A.11 (1983) criteria. The readout results by this algorithm with the TLD reader system were resent for the evaluation of compliance with the Nist-certification program (Nist-NVLAP) enforced by the US NRC in 10 CSR 20.202. It appeared, from the results of this DPCA, that the dose algorithm and the TLD reading procedure developed in this study complied successfully with the requirements in the ANSI N/A.11 criteria as well as in the 10 CSR 20.202. Therefore, the algorithm and TLD reading procedure will further contribute to improve the accuracy and to acquire a reliability of the personnel radiation dosimetry results in the Korean nuclear industry
