Swiss nuclear power plants under construction and projected
- 1. Kernkraftwerk Goesgen-Daeniken A.G., Daeniken (Switzerland)
Description
Switzerland is firmly committed to five new nuclear power projects, two of which are under construction. In addition there are proposals for nuclear power stations at Ruthi (900-1000 ME(e)) in the north east of Switzerland and at Verbois (1000 MW(e)) on the western outskirts of Geneva. Of particular interest are the cooperative arrangements for financing, building and operating power stations. Most of the projects are having to contend with lengthy licensing procedures. In spite of the existance of large rivers there is a move to use cooling towers to satisfy environmental demands. The present status of the five new stations Gosgen, Leibstadt, Kaiseraugst, Graben, and Inwil, is described and main parameters are given for the first three. (U.K.)
