200-eV resolution Si(Li) detector X-ray system based on pulsed opto-feed back technique

Description
The energy resolution of Si(Li) detector X-ray spectrometer has been improved to 200 eV by adopting an improved FET mounting configuration and by using a selected FET. The count-rate performance of the system has been evaluated for input count-rates upto 90,000/sec at 8.0 and 16.0 μsec peaking time of amplifier shaping network. The deterioration of resolution upto 30,000/sec input count-rates is insignificant. The peak stability is excellent and the peak shift observed upto 20,000/sec is found to be less than 5.0 eV.
