Moessbauer effect of 57Fe situated in (rare-earth)Ni2 laves phases
Description
The cubic Laves-phase compounds RNi2 are investigated, where R is Gd, Tb, Dy, Ho or Er, by means of the Moessbauer effect of 57Fe added as an impurity. It is found that GdNi2 magnetizes along a [110] direction, HoNi2 and DyNi2 along a [100] direction and TbNi2 and ErNi2 along a [111] direction at 5 K. The internal fields and the Curie temperatures are determined principally by the indirect interactions between the rare earths. (author)
