This paper presents the characterization of uranium compounds after a fire occurred during handling of a calorimeter composed of uranium plates at the CERN (Nuclear Research European Center, Geneva, Switzerland). The evaluation of the cut of ignited samples allows several hypotheses on the origin of the fire ignition
